The Week That Was: Games (20/12/18)
21st December 2018
Nintendo UK’s official Twitter account tweeted: “Thank you for making Super #SmashBrosUltimate the fastest-selling Nintendo home console game of all time in Europe!” as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate continues to ‘smash’ sales records! In it’s first weekend, the title outsold the combined total of Let’s Go Eevee and Pikachu, and sales are 300 percent higher than its Wii U predecessor – which doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise. Success continues overseas as, in the US, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the fastest selling Switch title thus far!
Fortnite’s use of pop cultural dance moves has been grabbing the attention of those who ‘created’ them. This week it was the Fresh Prince’s Alfonso Ribeiro, and Instagram’s Backpack Kid as they take legal action against Epic. However in the twisty copyright web, who knows what the outcome will be?
Following Telltale’s controversial closure earlier this year and Skybound’s acquisition of the series to complete its run, it has been announced that the final episodes will be available via the Epic Games store. However, if you have purchased the season pass via Steam, or other platforms on PC, you will be able to complete the series without any extra charge!
