The Week That Was: Games (17/05/19)

In a world of below-par videogame films, Detective Pikachu has been a spark for change and our fluffy friend has had the best opening weekend for a videogame film in the US. Warcraft still holds the title globally, but Detective Pikachu is rated higher critically and is the only games property to become ‘certified fresh’ on Rotten Tomatoes.
Steam Link has been added to iOS and Apple TV, a year after Android users were given the chance to link up to their Steam Library and enable remote play on their devices. After legal back and forth and being initially rejected by Apple, the service is now available to all – the only snag is that it currently allows remote play via a local network connection. This may or may not change in the future, but hey, one hurdle at a time!
PUBG on mobile aims to encourage healthy gaming habits in under 18’s. The ‘Gameplay Management’ system sends them an advisory notice on opening the app, to be acknowledged, followed by regular reminders prompting them to ‘rest or stop’ the game after a certain amount of time.
