The Week That Was: Games – 07/06/19
7th June 2019
As we get closer to the pre-eminent event of the games calendar, the rumour mill is starting to turn… Despite the glaring omission of Sony from this year’s E3, studios and publishers are already teasing announcements and unveiling conferences for unknown titles, with companies like EA and Microsoft already dropping hints about Star Wars and Halo to whet the appetite of attendees.
Google has shed some more clarity on its upcoming cloud-based video game service: an entry price, launch window and some of the games you will be able to play. Google’s Stadia will become available in November with an entry price of $129.99 for the Founders Edition package (pre-order on Google’s Stadia site), which includes a game controller, Chromecast Ultra streaming device and a three-month subscription.
Sony has announced a release date for the Uncharted movie: 18th December 2020. The Uncharted movie stars Tom Holland of Spider-Man fame as Nathan Drake, and is directed by Dan Trachtenberg (Cloverfield Lane). The story won’t follow the plot of the Naughty Dog-developed games, rather it will be a prequel depicting a younger Drake, who learns the tricks of the treasure-hunting trade from his mentor, Sully.
