THQ Nordic

Oh dear. THQ Nordic opted to rocket-launch off multiple appendages this week, by hosting an AMA on notorious community website 8chan – a site which has been banned from Google for grossly inappropriate content. PR and Marketing Director Phillip Brock issued a Twitter statement following industry backlash for engaging in conversation with what PC Gamer called ‘the toilet of the internet’. Pleading ignorance on 8chan’s sordid history, Brock stated:”I do not condone child pornography, white supremacy, or racism in any shape or form. I am terribly sorry for the short-sightedness of my (!) decision, and promise to be far more vigorous in my assessment of these activities in the future. This was not about being edgy, this blew up and I very much regret to have done it in the first place.”

Pokemon Direct

In happier news, Pokemon Direct landed this week on Pokemon Day with the news fans have been waiting for – the announcement of the next main game in the series coming to the Switch this year. It’s time for Gen 8! Pokemon Sword and Shield takes players into an England-inspired landscape, known as the Galar Region, for the first time in the series and introduces new starters: Grooky, Scorbunny, and Sobble.
