Alfred’s Christmas Comedy Crackers
18th December 2015
In the run up to Christmas, the team here at Alfred have been polishing up our best jokes, as we’ve been working with some of the UK’s top comedians ahead of their new DVD releases this Christmas. Needless to say, practise does not make perfect for the team here and think we’ll leave the comedy to the professionals, and stick to what we’re good at… promoting them!
This year we were excited to work with some of the nation’s best loved comedians, including Michael McIntyre, Alan Carr, Noel Fielding, Kevin Bridges, Dara O Briain, Dylan Moran, Russell Kane, Paul Chowdhry, Jethro and the incomparable Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown. Quite an impressive roster, if we do say so ourselves.
Working with such top tier talent led us to lots of exciting opportunities – from junkets to signings, creating social content for the comedian’s channels and even the making of an extra special spoof video (to read more about our venture into music videography with Roy Chubby Brown, see our blog here). Let’s just say it was all systems go in the Alfred office, and we’ve loved every hilarious minute of it!
Some of our key highlights and fantastic coverage included clip placement for Michael McIntyre on Telegraph online, with homepage support, a hilarious interview with Alan Carr on Heatworld and an interview piece which saw Noel Fielding dissect the meaning of Modern Art for Shortlist Online. We even had lots of lovely fans who tweeted their thanks after receiving a copy of Michael McIntyre’s DVD with personalised sleeve – including members of the Tottenham Hotspur football team.
We arranged and hosted junkets for the majority of our comedy talent, which of course attracted the best UK publications around – from Guardian, London Evening Standard and Telegraph to Heatworld, FHM, Shortlist, AskMen and the likes of Comedy Central and Yahoo! Entertainment. You can read Dylan Moran’s interview with Telegraph online here, which you might have also spotted on their homepage too (!), and we negotiated a clip from Russell Kane’s DVD to appear on Sunday Brunch. In fact, Yahoo! Entertainment loved Russell so much, we secured two separate pieces of coverage from a single interview with them. Some other amazing clip placements include Dara O Briain on Guardian.com, and Noel Fielding on TimeOut online.
Alfred even visited bonnie Scotland, motherland of some of the UK’s most successful names in comedy, including Kevin Bridges. The team jetted off to Glasgow, where we arranged a special DVD signing for his fans at HMV Glasgow, complete with special treats from the lovely people at Tunnock’s and Irn-Bru who offered us some goodies for the day. Sadly, we didn’t get the chance to experience our first ever ‘empty’.
However, we did get the chance to jet off to the beautiful city of Truro in Cornwall to spend the day with Jethro, which saw us visit BBC Cornwall for a day jam packed with media interviews. One lucky Jethro superfan even got her mitts on a giant Cornish Pasty, arranged in partnership with a local bakery who love Jethro’s comedy legacy – he is Cornwall’s ‘other’ biggest export, after all.
All in all, it’s been a busy but fun Q4, and Team Alfred are tickled with the success of our campaigns!
