Alfred delivers a sell out Festival
3rd March 2017
In the thick of the big screen awards season, we burst on to the London creative scene with The VFX Festival 2017. Knowing we are the experts when it comes to all things film, UK film industry, and tech (and a dab-hand at organising large scale events!), our client, Escape Studios, put the 5th year of the festival in our very capable hands. We delivered a festival that was bigger and bolder than ever before, proven by being a complete sell out!
This year we cemented a partnership with creative hub Rich Mix to house the festival, and completely took over its venue, over four floors in the heart of Shoreditch. Over three days Rich Mix was literally jam packed, in what was Escape’s biggest VFX Festival to date. We secured a host of first-class headline speakers and exhibitors, including presentations on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Star Trek:Beyond and Academy Award winner The Jungle Book; award winning TV Programmes such as The Crown and Black Mirror, and finally talks from the top gaming companies including Creative Assembly, Climax Studios and State of Play, alongside exclusive workshops from the developer behind Houdini SideFX.
Our three dedicated exhibition hubs, covering Education, Technology and Software, were hosted by first class partners, including technology leaders HP, Escape Technology, SideFX, Axis Animation and iMasterArt.
As part of the partnership with Rich Mix we executed a scholarship programme in the months leading up to the festival, to offer a place to study at Escape Studios for a local Tower Hamlets resident. At the event itself, we hosted a traditional press junket across all three days, securing over 30 pieces of quality media coverage. The BBC attended capturing a host of brilliant broadcast coverage, Yahoo Movies ran a Facebook LIVE, UNILAD created bespoke video content, 3D World were our official specialist media partner, with Wired, Radio Times, The Guardian and TimeOut delivering in depth features from behind the scenes.
If you are in the creative arts industries, or want to be, the VFX Festival is a date not to be missed. Get in early for The VFX Festival 2018 as we’re set to raise the bar yet again.
